#83 | Diaz, Barrymore & Liu are Charlie's Angels

It may come as a surprise to some but Charlie's Angels is a brilliant comedy, action movie. Staring the only women for the job, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu, the 2000 version of Charlie's Angels is undoubtedly awesome. Cringey, maybe a little, fun, absolutely, entertaining, without a doubt. This movie never fails to bring a smile to my face, it would be a lie to say I haven't watched this movie over twenty times- I easily have. This action comedy brings me heavy nostalgia and I genuinely find the plot to be somewhat coherent and engaging.

Natalie, Dylan and Alex are three beautiful and uniquely talented tough girls. Each are a member of Charlie's secret angels. The girls are given the task of finding the kidnapped owner of Knox Enterprises, Eric Knox, they soon complete their mission but soon discover some shady details about Knox's company and his employees.

Charlie's Angels isn't a masterpiece, it isn't going to move you or bring a tear to your eye. This movie is simple and easy to watch, sometimes it's fun to sit back and have the security that a movie is going to make you laugh and cringe a little, I find joy in that. This interpretation of the original tv show is cast to perfection, Diaz plays the adorably naive blonde incredible well. Barrymore belongs in the role of Dylan, the role was made for her and her alone. She is the badass angel with a shady past. Lastly, Liu is unstoppable as Alex, she is honestly the most believable of the trio and I truly think she could be a spy. I adore this movie and its sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003) but because having both on my top 100 is simply shamefull, I went for the first.
