Deadpool must save his friends from ceasing to exist with the help of ex-hero, Wolverine. He must convince him to dawn his supersuit one last time and stop Cassandra Nova from destroying their timeline forever.
Did I die and go to superhero heaven? Since 2016 Deadpool has skipped into the MCU to inject crude jokes and charm into the cinematic franchise. Deadpool & Wolverine, six years after Deadpool 2 only reignites this very principle. They did it right, they achieved the perfect on screen duo layered with humility and originality.
When discussing character development, there is no denying Deadpool is one of the most charasmatic anti-heroes. Charming audiences since his first appearance in 1990, Ryan Reynolds doesn’t hold back when bringing his unique tone of voice to the role whilst meta-commentating on the world.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) has a coherent storyline, a complexity to the plot which added dimension to the humour. Disney were able to incorporate Deadpool into the universe seamlessly, bringing him up to speed with the MCU whilst maintaining Deadpool individual brand and identity.
Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) left me with the biggest grin on my face since Avengers: Endgame (2019), aside form Guardians of the Galaxy 3 the MCU lost its way but I am proud to say this movie whips it back into shape. The humour, the soundtrack, the cast and the special effects all produced a memorable, entertaining movie.
A handful of reviews and comments about this feature were negative towards the amount of cameos in this feature but personally I loved the cameos. It made sense to the plot and the story wasn’t flooded with them. Each cameo had an impact on the story and always landed with a justified joke.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) is a movie for the fans, it’s as though they collected every outcast character and brought them together for one final hurrah. This movie is violent, crude and sometimes just plain stupid but that is the beauty of Deadpool. This dynamic duo will become a fan favourite and I am so pleased with the final outcome, most definitely NOT is a disappointing team up.
