Is Coraline (2009) still the Ultimate Creepy Children's Movie? A 15th Anniversary Cinema Experience Review

Coraline (2009)

Happy 15th Anniversary to Coraline, the weird yet wonderful animated classic from Laika studios. Coraline is an incredibly unique feature filled with charm, I fell in love with Coraline as a child and it makes me incredibly happy to see so many people enjoying it all these years later.

Coraline is unlike anything else, a truly magnificent feature that will shock you but most importantly stay with you. Coraline is a timeless classic, a tale which should be introduced and enjoyed for generations to come.

Coraline (2009) is more than just a film, it is a world of story, creativity and imagination. Coraline is a cinematic masterpiece which leaves you in awe of the spectacular filmmaking and attention to detail. From beginning to end, the story of Coraline is faultless and unique. We dive head first into the non sensical world of innocence, escapism, fear and family; Coraline tantalises with the idea of being materialistic and getting lost in appearances. Coraline teaches the lesson to appreciate family and courageously overcome struggle.

I had the pleasure of re-watching Coraline in the cinema to celebrate its 15th Anniversary, but I also have treasured memories of watching Coraline as a child. Coraline is a fundamentally enjoyable feature, charming characters, dazzling visuals and a hypnotic adventure. Aside from its engrossing storyline, Coraline offers an abundance of easter eggs and hidden references to discover.

Coraline (2009), directed by visionary animator Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wendall & Wild) is unlike anything else. A film which should be introduced to new generations, an example of the wonders of stop-motion animation and the beauty of animation. Produced by the groundbreaking studio LAIKA, Coraline has continued to enchant... and haunt audiences since its release.
