Lisa Frankenstein (2024) Movie Review: A Modern Twist on a Classic Tale or a Missed Opportunity?

A decaying beautiful love affair, Lisa Frankenstein (2024) invites you to embark on this wacky, irreverent flick staring the beautiful Olivia Newton and the intensifying Cole Sprouse.

A misunderstood teenager and a reanimated Victorian corpse embark on a murderous journey together to find love, happiness, and a few missing body parts.

This Bonnie and Clyde style feature sees a young misfit falling in love with the idea of a dead man but once he is magically brought back to life her expectations of him change. Lisa nurtures her newly found friend into the perfect companion and the pair set the world to right, or so they think.

Lisa Frankenstein (2024) is a charming, teen flick with crude jokes and two unapologetically weird characters at the centre. This is not a film for all audiences, it has a bunch of opposing themes which make it fast paced and unpredictable. This film is packed with humour through dialogue and physical comedy, Sprouse's undead hunk doesn't utter a word through the film and relies on the micro expressions and grunts. His performance, although simple was truly affective and I enjoyed watching him alongside Newton, who brought a moody teenage vibe to her whole persona.

Essentially, Lisa Frankenstein (2024) is a campy teen version of Frankenstein... hence the title. Lisa brings her dream man to life only to have him terrorising the town for new body parts, sounds morbid but its truly comedic.

I absolutely loved this feature, it was just strange enough, just silly enough and just unique enough for me to fall in love with its originality. I was hooked by the performances, the characters and the overall absurdity of the romance. This is a brilliantly lighthearted feature to watch this halloween..
