A prequel story concentrating on a young Willy Wonka. This story will be far from the character we have come to know and love, this movie will dive into his past and show us the eccentric chocolatier before he opened his famous factory.
Described as a ‘musical fantasy film’ I suspect this movie will be more similar to the 2005 Tim Burton interpretation as apposed to the 1971 Gene Wilder version. Incorporating song and dance as an integral part of the narrative, as apposed to disturbing boat journeys through the chocolate river... I’m sure we can prepare for a dazzling feature filled with colour and vibrancy, I hope to see a few Wonka songs sung by the one and only Timothée Chalamet's Wonka along with the all star cast including Rowan Atkinson, Keegan Michael-Key and Olivia Coleman. I predict this will be an incredibly fun watch, the casting is perfection and from the few images we’ve seen so far I suspect this movie is going to be a knockout for all ages and specifically families.
All in all, so far so good, this movie definitely gets the Film Probe approval. I will most certainly be watching this feature when it hits the cinemas next year, being a fan of both interpretations and the original novel, I am beyond intrigued and excited to see what’s in store. Director Paul King has bought us the joys of Paddington so I have no doubt he can harness some of that charm and wonder into Wonka.
